ALBANY, Ga. — An infant is recovering at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta after suffering several skull fractures.
Earlier this month, the infant was rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
The child was diagnosed with several skull fractures and flown to Children’s and is alive and recovering.

Investigators say both parents are responsible for the child’s injuries.
Santos Velez, 41, and Kellie Velez, 37, were arrested and charged with cruelty to children.

The child’s father, Santos Velez, was also charged with aggravated battery. Kellie Velez, the child’s mother, was charged with aggravated battery - party to a crime.
Both are being held at the Dougherty County Jail.
