Gas prices easing up, AAA says

Georgia gas prices are showing signs of easing, though recent increases in crude oil prices could limit further relief for drivers at the pump.

The state average currently sits at $3.73 per gallon for regular gasoline, making the cost to fill a standard 15-gallon tank approximately $55.95.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group, said that crude oil prices rose sharply last Friday due to global supply disruption concerns.

“Crude oil prices and potential supply disruptions remain factors to watch for drivers,” Waiters said. “While market conditions remain uncertain, drivers can help manage fuel costs by shopping around for the best prices, taking advantage of fuel rewards programs and planning trips efficiently.”

The state average is eight cents lower than last week and 36 cents lower than last month, though it remains 91 cents higher than last year. Nationally, regular gasoline dropped six cents from last week to average $4.29 per gallon. High crude oil costs and market volatility continue to restrict the typical seasonal drop in fuel prices during the fall.

Metro market prices across Georgia vary, with Savannah recording the state’s highest average at $3.83 per gallon.

Hinesville-Fort Stewart follows at $3.78 per gallon, while Atlanta averages $3.75 per gallon.

The state’s least expensive metro markets are led by Albany, where regular gasoline averages $3.57 per gallon. Prices in Catoosa-Dade-Walker average $3.61 per gallon, while Brunswick sits at $3.64 per gallon.
