BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A convicted felon from Texas has been charged with federal crimes after investigators say he threatened the Barrow County judge and District’s Attorney Office overseeing the Apalachee High School shooting case.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern District of Georgia announced charges against Brandon Dontrail Scroggins on Wednesday.

Scroggins made his threats on the day that Colin Gray, the father of the school shooter Colt Gray, was sentenced, according to the office.
Investigators say Scroggins called the DA’s office at least three times on July 30, including threatening to harm the office’s employees and their families. He then called Primm’s chambers and left a voicemail about a “death date” for the judge and telling his assistant that “everything he love [s] is dead.”
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg says Primm and prosecutors were just doing their jobs in finding justice for the Apalachee High School shooting victims.
“Public servants deserve to work free of intimidation, and anyone who threatens to harm them will be prosecuted,” Hertzberg said.
