DUBLIN, Ga. — Gov. Brian Kemp has agreed to suspend all seven members of a Georgia school district.
The Georgia Board of Education recommended suspending the Dublin City Schools Board of Education in 10-0 vote last week. On Monday, Kemp signed an executive order to suspend the entire school board.

The state originally tried to hold the hearing in June, but a decision was not made. Last Wednesday, both the state and the Dublin City Schools Board laid out their case again before the vote.
The hearing comes after the school district faced about a $20 million deficit and a financial crisis which prompted the state to step in with emergency payroll assistance and put its accreditation at risk.
Since then, the school district has cut costs by eliminating dozens of staff members and shortening the school calendar. The state board ended up unanimously voting to suspend all seven Dublin City School Board members with pay.
According to Kemp’s executive order, a committee will appoint temporary replacements for the Dublin City Schools Board of Education.
State Board of Education member Matt Donaldson will chair the committee. Rep. Matt Hatchett, Sen. Larry Walker, former Dublin Mayor Phil Best and community member Edwin May will also serve on it.
