DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was hit by an SUV in Douglasville on Monday evening, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened shortly after 5:45 p.m. on W. Stewarts Mill Road.
Investigators said a Nissan Murano was traveling east on the roadway when the girl ran into the street and was struck.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a group of teenagers had been walking along the south shoulder of W. Stewarts Mill Road when a dog ran toward them.

The teenagers told investigators that the girl ran into the roadway.
The 10-year-old suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for treatment.
