ROME, Ga. — The crime rate in Rome, Ga. is down 19% this year, compared to last.
According to the police department, there were a total of 575 crimes against persons and property in the first half of the year.
Only two of them were murders, the department said.
The 575 crimes against persons, split between murder, aggravated assault, rape, kidnapping and human trafficking, according to a department spokesperson.

Officials said that was a 19% decrease.
For property crimes, like arson, theft, burglary and robbery, police said the number of cases was down a full 25%.
However, crimes against society like drug violations, animal cruelty and driving under the influence were reported 4% more than in the first half of 2025.
The exact number of property crimes and crimes against society were not provided.
“Arrests were down 25% from June 2025, when compared to June 2026,” the department said.
