Metro Atlanta city approves new traffic lights for nearly $600,000 contract

NEWNAN, Ga. — The Newnan City Council approved a more than half a million dollar contract to install new traffic lights at a busy intersection.

The contract was awarded to 9 Yards Infrastructure to install traffic signals, controllers and the cabinet assemblies with battery backup, radar and related equipment at the intersection of Newnan Cross Blvd, E. Diplomat Pkwy and Stonebridge Crossing.

Members of council approved 9 Yards for the contract as it was the lowest bid for the project, with $586,435 to perform the work.

Six other companies offered bids on the project.

In addition to installing the traffic light, 9 Yards Infrastructure will also build sidewalk, curb and gutter, curb ramps, mill and pave the road and apply thermoplastic pavement markings to complete the project.

Budgeting for the light and related construction comes from Newnan SPLOST funds.

The vote to approve the project was unanimous.
