County-by-county: Roads, offices closed due to flooding, winter weather

With heavy rain and wintry mix in the forecast, there are closures people in the affected areas need to know about.

Many schools and offices in north Georgia mountains have closed in anticipation of winter weather. A winter weather advisory is in effect until Friday morning for those counties.

GDOT told Channel 2 Action News crews will be working late in the northern areas. In the metro area, a spokesperson said crews will be working to place some salt on bridges and spot check remaining wet spots in anticipation of black ice.

Here is a list of all of the closures we’ve received so far. Check back for updates as these are subject to change.

Bartow County:

Officials shut down Tanyard Creek Road Wednesday afternoon because of flooding. Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway went back out there Thursday morning, where it was still closed.

North Georgia Closures:

All public health departments and public health services in Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens and Whitfield counties are closed through Friday.

Butts County:

Fannin County:

Blue Ridge City Hall will be closed today.

Fulton County:

Gilmer County:

Spalding County:

Flooding has closed several roads in Spalding County, according to the sheriff’s office. Spalding is one of the counties under a Flash Flood Watch

Union County:

Channel 2′s Tom Regan reports that the road to Brasstown Bald has been shut down in anticipation of snow and ice.
