KENNESAW, Ga. — The end came early for Bahama Breeze in Kennesaw.
Channel 2’s Tom Regan reported earlier in the week that the planned last day for the last Bahama Breeze in Georgia was going to be Saturday.

But the restaurant closed for good on Friday after a strong customer response during the week.
A spokesperson for Darden Restaurants, the company that owns Bahama Breeze, said, “We had planned for today to be our last day, but business was so strong the past three days, the restaurant sold out of nearly all food and beverages by the close of business yesterday and they were unable to operate normally today.”

The restaurant first opened in Kennesaw in 1999. Darden Restaurants owns the chain and decided to bring the entire brand to an end, with some locations closing permanently and other being converted to a different brand.
Darden Restaurants expects to reopen the location as a Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen on Sept. 23.
