Boyfriend charged after woman found shot to death in SUV at Atlanta gas station, police say

ATLANTA — Police have charged a man after they say his girlfriend was found shot to death in a SUV at a gas station.

Channel 2 Action News This Morning reported on the shooting that happened Thursday morning off Cleveland Ave near Interstate 75. Police shut down the area for hours as they investigated.

Police say Dontavious Wright pulled up in a SUV to the BP gas station and flagged down an officer. He told police that his girlfriend shot herself as they were driving.

Police said the victim, who has not been identified, had an apparent gunshot wound to her head.

Investigators took Wright to APD headquarters for further questioning. On Thursday afternoon, investigators announced that they have charged Wright in the woman’s death.

Wright faces charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
