From wild chases to the death of some of Atlanta’s most well-known people, 2020 has brought a year filled with many ups and downs, causing people across the metro to take to social media and share the stories we brought to you.
Here is a look back at the top five local videos from the WSB-TV Facebook page and the stories behind them.
Wild police chase through Forsyth County
The driver was eventually stopped by police and arrested. And even more important, no one was injured.
This bodycam video from March was our top local video this year on Facebook.
The video shows the wild moments when a man driving a U-Haul sped away from officers and led them on a chase through Forsyth County after investigators said he robbed a nearby Walmart.

Rep. John Lewis laid to rest at South View Cemetery
In July we said goodbye to civil rights icon and Atlanta Congressman John Lewis.
Lewis died July 17 at the age of 80 after a battle with Stage IV pancreatic cancer.
Our photographers were there to capture the moments that Lewis was laid to rest at Atlanta’s South View Cemetery and an honor guard draped his casket with an American flag.

Secretary of State’s Office calls on president to stop divisive rumors over election
The 2020 presidential election was arguably one of the most consequential elections in modern history, as Georgia and the nation were forced to grapple with how to hold a nationwide election among a worldwide pandemic and keep voters safe.
During the 2020 election, Georgia, like most states across the country, had a record number of absentee ballots submitted.
Those ballots became a contentious part of the election as President Donald Trump made countless attempts to have the absentee ballots invalidated after it became clear that former Vice President Joe Biden had won.
During a news conference in December, Gabriel Sterling with the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office blasted the president and Republican leaders for spreading false information about elections in Georgia and said their actions put the lives of state leaders and election workers in jeopardy.

Channel 2 watches election night surveillance video with elections officials
Among the many court challenges filed over the 2020 election was one that had to do with surveillance video taken from State Farm Arena that President Trump’s lawyers said proved voter fraud had taken place.
Channel 2 investigative reporter Justin Gray spent a day with Georgia election officials, going through the video frame-by-frame to show everyone what really happened inside the ballot counting location at the arena.

Sorority finds creative way to send off sister going into surgery for cancer
A Fayette County woman with stage 4 cancer got what she calls the surprise of her life.
Her sorority sisters practiced social distancing, but managed to bring a much-needed smile to her face.
When she stepped outside, she couldn’t believe what she saw.
“They brought pretty much a church service to my front lawn,” Stacy Franklin said. “Staying 6 feet apart from each other, 50 feet from my doorstep.”
