ATLANTA — Jermaine Dupri, the Grammy-winning song-writer and performer from Atlanta, has officially dropped a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Sony Music.
Channel 2 Action News reported when it was originally filed.
At the time, Dupri and his company, So-So Def Records, wanted Sony to pay about $18 million for what they claimed were improperly reported royalties for songs Dupri helped write, produce or perform.
A subsequent filing reduced the amount Dupri was trying to get to just under $10 million.

Dupri first filed the lawsuit in July , citing a 32-year business relationship with Sony.
His legal counsel said at least seven contracts between So-So Def Records and Sony had resulted in millions of dollars of alleged financial harm due to misreporting by Sony.
On Friday, Dupri dismissed the case against Sony, with a court filing saying that both parties had resolved their issues.
“Pursuant to Rule 41(a)(1) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the Plaintiffs voluntarily dismiss this action without prejudice as the parties have resolved the matter prior to joinder,” the filing says.
A judge signed off on it the same day, bringing the legal battle to a close.
