Sources confirm to Channel 2 Action News that Gov. Brian Kemp is going to extend the suspension of the state’s gas tax for another month.
The current extension was set to expire on Aug. 13.
Prices on gas have been slowly going down over the last few weeks. AAA says the current average for gas across Georgia is $3.74 a gallon versus the national average of $4.18 a gallon.
The tax suspension saves Georgians about 30 cents per gallon for gas and 33 cents per gallon for diesel.
Sources told Channel 2′s Richard Elliot that the official announcement will come Wednesday morning.
A month ago, the average price of gas across the state was $4.33.
