ATLANTA — If you are looking for a way to save this year on back-to-school spending, you may want to check out your local library.
Channel 2 consumer adviser Clark Howard says, “Why buy when you can borrow?”
It’s no secret that textbooks cost a lot of money, as well as any other books that students may need for reading for school.
Students may only need some of the books for only part of the year.

Howard says something that is often overlooked is that your local library may offer not only physical copies of books, but also digital ones.
“These are available to you as a taxpayer where you live for free. So, before you buy a book that’s really only needed for a short episode during the school year, see if you can get that book available to you,” Howard said.
Through the local library, you may not have to lay out your hard-earned money.
