Atlanta police say just before 11 p.m. Saturday a man was shot near 464 Edgewood Avenue. Investigators say the man shot at a group of people who attacked him, injuring one of them. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.

The shooter was also sent to the hospital after being hurt during the fight.

Atlanta police have not released any information on charges for either person.

Atlanta’s City Council passed a measure closing Edgewood between Jackson Street and Boulevard in May and it was implemented beginning in June. The closures are planned for each Friday beginning at 10 a.m. until Monday’s at 10 a.m. and will continue through Sept. 12.

The primary reason for the city approving the closure is to try and control the flow of traffic through the area. Atlanta police have worked multiple incidents involving street racing, street parties and shootings in this specific area along with battling crime in other parts of town.
