ATLANTA — Just before Labor Day, the City of Atlanta is among the top 10 destinations for travelers for the weekend.
AAA said Atlanta rounds out a group of 10 domestic destinations for this year’s big weekend.
“Labor Day has long been a popular time for a final summer getaway, and travelers continue to prioritize vacations with family and friends,” Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA – The Auto Club Group, said in a statement. “Whether it’s a cruise, a national park adventure, or an international trip, travelers are eager to make the most of the holiday weekend.”

But it’s not all fun times and cool sights.
AAA said as the summer gets ready to close out with Labor Day getaways, travelers are seeing higher travel costs and should expect traffic delays.

Current conditions mean travelers are facing “higher fuel, airfare and hotel costs this year, while domestic cruise prices trend lower.”
Booking data shared by AAA showed the average domestic flight is up 2% compared to 2025 generally, but for travel to popular Labor Day destinations, airfare is almost 20% higher.
Higher costs aren’t restricted to your tickets either. AAA said booking data shows people are paying more for hotel rooms, up 9% in the U.S.
Internationally, AAA said bookings were up 12%, according to the company, though international flights were 4% cheaper.
