ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. — A 91-year-old South Carolina man died while trying to fix a broken pipe on Christmas night, according to WJBF.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said Marvin Eugene Henley, of Anderson, was reported missing on Sunday night. Deputies said he went outside his house to check on something and never came back inside.

According to WJBF, Henley went outside to try to fix a broken water pipe. Deputies told WJBF that he came back into the home to change some of his wet clothes, then went back outside.
He died after being wet and exposed to extremely cold temperatures all night. Deputies said his death was accidental.

Anderson is about 13 miles from the Georgia border. Temperatures plunged as low as 16 degrees in the area early Sunday morning.
Many people across Georgia are dealing with broken pipes after a mass of Arctic air brought bitter cold to the southeast over Christmas weekend.
