ROME, Ga. — A 7-year-old west Georgia boy is in a medically induced coma with major injuries after being hit by a car last week.
Aiden was catching the school bus on Friday morning when he was hit by a Ford F-150, his family says.
Rome police say a Floyd County police officer was driving on the road when the crash happened right after 7 a.m. and was the first on scene.

Aiden was rushed to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center and then flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta - Scottish Rite Hospital.
He was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury known as a diffuse axonal injury, a ligament tear connecting his skull and neck, broken pelvis, broken ribs, fractured collarbone and fractured wrist, according to an online fundraiser.
Rome police confirmed to Channel 2’s Ashlyn Webb that Aiden was in the street, running to his older brother at the time of the crash.

They say the road was wet from storms that moved through earlier in the morning. They say the driver was not speeding, stayed on scene and is not facing charges.
Aiden’s parents are not leaving his side, family said online, while also caring for a 13-year-old and a 7-month-old.
They say he loves Paw Patrol, TikTok dancing and being rough and tough.
Family members have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help offset medical costs.
