Tractor-trailer carrying vegetables caught on fire after hitting 2 cars on I-285 in DeKalb

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Two major crashes shut down parts of Interstate 285 in DeKalb County for the morning commute.

Triple Team Traffic’s Mike Shields reported throughout Channel 2 Action News This Morning on at least two major crashes.

DeKalb County Fire Capt. Jaeson Daniels told Channel 2 Action News that a truck carrying vegetables hit two passenger cars on the side of the interstate.

A tractor-trailer caught on fire around 4:40 a.m. shutting down all lanes of I-285 eastbound at Flat Shoals Road.

Daniels said one of the cars caught on fire. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured. DeKalb County police said the two passenger cars were unoccupied.
