2 dead after being trapped inside house fire

ATLANTA — A fire broke out at a home in SW Atlanta Wednesday evening.

The fire was located at 2820 Waters Road in Southwest Atlanta, and 2 people died after being trapped inside.

The two who died were a mother and child. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.

“It’s always a long day and a sad night to experience a call like this,” said Atlanta Fire Captain, Andrew Anderson.

He said his fire team responded in less than 5 minutes.

Early investigation indicates that the fire started near the couch, putting out a significant amount of heat, according to the fire chief.

Anderson said his advice for people who may be in a fire to call 911 immediately, even if you don’t think it is an emergency.

It is not yet clear what started the fire.
