ATLANTA — You will want to limit your time outdoors on Thursday as Georgia will experience dangerous heat throughout the day.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Ashley Kramlich says high temperatures will reach the mid-to-upper 90s with feel-like temperatures even hotter.

The heat index values this afternoon will climb to 100-105 degrees for metro Atlanta. In areas south of Atlanta, heat indices will rise to 105-110 degrees.

Along with the heat, there is also a risk for strong to severe storms. Here’s what you need to know for Thursday.
- There is a heat advisory in effect for Butts, Greene, Jasper, Lamar, Morgan, Meriwether, Pike, Putnam, Troup and Upson counties.
- There is also a heat advisory for Cleburne and Randolph counties in Alabama in the Channel 2 viewing area.
- Level 2 out of 5 risk for storms. Main threats are damaging wind gusts and hail
- Heat breaks down with an approaching cold front Saturday which will bring scattered storms back to the forecast
