COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Local professional video game players will host their first-ever home series this weekend in College Park. They're the Atlanta Faze.

The series will be the only home series they will have in Atlanta in this Call of Duty league, and the Faze want to put on a strong performance for their home crowd at the Gateway Center Arena.

"It's really important for us to come out strong and show everyone what we are working on," said Michael Szymaniak, an Atlanta Faze player.

The Atlanta Faze is one of 12 Call of Duty e-sports teams. They are undefeated so far this season and are excited to host their first home series in Atlanta.

The tournament will involve 8 teams competing for $50,000 and tournament points.

Fans in the arena will get to watch teams play 5-on-5 matches on the Playstation 4 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

"Our strategy is to just play our game, like we practice so much at home and online. And when we come to these environments it's different with the crowd behind you. It gives us the drive to be the best team we can be,” Szymaniak said.

So what will it take for the Atlanta Faze to win this weekend?

Head coach James Crowder said his players need to stay calm, focused and keep their eye on the ultimate prize.

"This team was built to win. We have the talent, the composure, the teamwork; we get along really well. We want to win and win here, and the end goal is to the world championship that happens at the end of the year,” Crowder said.

There will also be amateur competition going on, with 64 teams made up of five players each.

They will also be competition for a share of the $25,000 prize.

Tickets are still available to watch the home series in person.
