ATLANTA — MARTA police said they arrested a woman responsible for an attack at the West End train station.
Katrina Robinson told Channel 2's Ryan Young she bumped into another woman at the Five Points MARTA station Monday as they boarded a train. Robinson said as she got off the train the other woman followed her, and then stabbed her with a box cutter.
Dropped Cell Phone Helps Police Solve MARTA Attack
"I suffered seven stab wounds. She got my arm. She stabbed and got my chest. She cut the side of my face, and my head. I have 3 staples in there and she cut my back," Robinson said.
Robinson said she found a police officer downstairs and got help but her attacker was gone. Police said a cell phone dropped at the scene helped them identify the attacker. They charged Kimberly Manson Koonce with aggravated assault.
"MARTA's highest priorities are the safety and security of our customers," the agency said in a statement released late Thursday. "MARTA police conducted a thorough investigation into Monday's incident at West End and arrested the suspect in less than forty-eight hours. "
"At the time of the incident, two MARTA police officers were stationed at West End conducting regular patrols. A MARTA station agent was also on duty. When the victim approached the fare gates, she received immediate assistance from a station agent and MARTA police officer," the statement concluded.
