CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. — A Georgia woman has died days after a parasail's tether detached from a boat during a Florida vacation.
Alejandra White and Shaun Ladd were injured Sept. 5 when the tether between a towboat and passenger harness broke, sending Ladd into the water and White crashing into the beach on a runaway parachute. White was dragged behind the chute through beach umbrellas and into a post on a volleyball court.
A spokesman from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the 27-year-old died Saturday.
A man who was on the boat with the couple spoke with Channel 2 Action News about the accident.
"I was praying and hoping she would make it," said Manesh Lad. "It's sad."
Her fiance, Ladd, was not seriously injured. The two were from Lawrenceville.
The Coast Guard, Clearwater police and other agencies are investigating.
