Police: 2 arrested after a dismembered body found in an Ohio house

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — Two people have been arrested after a dismembered body was found in an Ohio house, according to police.

According to a news release from the Middletown Division of Police, on Tuesday a man later identified as John Havens, 34, showed up at the police department’s lobby wanting to speak with an officer. When he did, he allegedly provided detailed information about a murder.

Officers went to the house to do a well-being check, police said. When the officers got inside the house, they found blood and human remains dismembered in one of the rooms.

Havens allegedly told the officer that Bonnie Marie Vaughn, 59, had apparently shot and killed a person inside the house, according to WHIO-TV. Havens later reportedly told officers that he had dismembered the body.

Vaughn fled the scene but she was later located and arrested, according to MDP.

MDP said that Vaughn has been charged with murder. Havens has been charged with tampering with evidence and the abuse of a corpse.

The name of the victim has not been identified. The investigation is ongoing and no further information has been released.
