OMAHA, Neb. — A Nebraska man doused an Omaha bar with pepper spray Friday after he was denied entry, police said.
Ryan Shuffty, 37, was turned away at T. Henery's around 11 p.m. because it was already at 50% capacity, WOWT reported.
Shuffty appeared to walk away in surveillance video but moments later turned around and shoots a can of pepper spray into the bar before leaving.
“I turned around and all of a sudden my eyes and throat were burning and I was coughing and everyone around me was coughing,” Jakob Pachunka, who works security at the bar, told WOWT. “It was slowly spreading through the bar to the patrons and what not, so my first reaction was to get to the bar and make an announcement to get everybody out of the building.”
Police found Shuffty at another nearby bar.
Shuffty told investigators the bar's bouncer was rude and made racist remarks, so he shot the pepper spray, WOWT reported.
Shuffty was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of assault, police said.
