The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office posted surveillance video showing the crime on Facebook. The video shows a man sticking the large weapon down his pants, wrapping his jacket around his stomach, and then using a crutch that he had propped against the aisle to walk back out of frame. In the caption, deputies said, “Just when you think you have seen it all, this guy takes carrying a concealed weapon to a whole new level, as he proves to all of us that you can actually stuff a Crossbow down the front of your pants!!”

Deputies said more video from the store showed the man, later identified as Darren Durrant, stealing a pair of cutting tools off the shelf and cutting the zip ties off of a Ravin R10 Crossbow, WFTV reported.

Deputies told WFTV they found Durrant a few days later in the parking lot of a nearby Walgreens, where he tried to run but didn’t get far.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey called Durrant “one of the world’s dumbest criminals caught on video stuffing a crossbow down his pants,” WFTV reported.
