Feline helps California firefighters locate man who fell down waterfall

PLEASANT VALLEY, Calif. — A cat is being credited with helping to locate a man who had fallen down a waterfall in California last month, authorities said.

According to the El Dorado County Fire Protection District, the incident occurred on Feb. 21 on private property in El Dorado County. The agency said a man fell 30 feet down a seasonal waterfall into the drainage area of Webber Creek, KOVR-TV reported.

Family members looking for the man conducted a search and were helped by a neighbor, according to the television station.

KOVR reported that the man’s wife and neighbor then heard their outdoor cat making noises. The feline then led the pair to the area where the man fell, according to the television station.

Officials were able to airlift the victim to an area hospital the El Dorado County Fire Protection District wrote in a Facebook post.

No details have been released about the man’s condition, KOVR reported.
