A woman called authorities at about 9:15 a.m., saying her son went missing after going to check the mail, the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators searched and found the boy dead in a field with injuries from an apparent dog attack.

She said she went to look for him but could not find him. She also mentioned that she saw a pack of dogs running from a field near her home.

Authorities questioned two people, and the Conway Animal Shelter took custody of two dogs nearby. The dogs will remain quarantined and held for investigative reasons, officials said.
