FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — Two people were killed Tuesday when a small plane struck a paraglider over Fort Bend County, Texas.
Officials confirmed that the sole paraglider and the pilot of the small plane both died, the Houston Chronicle reported.
No other people were aboard the single-engine Cessna 208 at the time of the crash, KHOU reported.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Cessna was flying from George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Victoria Regional Airport when it collided midair with the paraglider at about 9:40 a.m., the TV station reported.
Fort Bend County Constable Chad Norvell confirmed to the Chronicle that the male paraglider fell to the ground, landing in the Weston Lakes neighborhood but his parachute and other equipment were located several miles west.
Meanwhile, the plane crashed at a nearby shooting range, Norvell told the newspaper.
The National Transportation Safety Board will lead an investigation into the crash with the assistance of the FAA, KHOU reported.
