Missouri driver killed after tree branch crashes through windshield

A Missouri man was killed Friday afternoon after he was impaled by a tree branch that crashed through the window of his vehicle.

O'Fallon, Mo. — A 48-year-old Missouri man was killed when a tree limb crashed through a car windshield Friday afternoon, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

John R. Dean, 48, was driving a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire when the branch fell from a dead tree and struck the vehicle's windshield, according to the Missouri State Police.

Dean was the only person in the car, according to the newspaper. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the highway patrol report.

Dean was impaled by the branch, the Post-Dispatch reported.
