NEW YORK — A cab driver who lost his thumb after teens chopped it off with a machete is protesting their release from jail.
Richard Deleon lost his thumb when he tried to stop Juan Carlos Sanchez and Kenneth Guzman from attacking passengers in his cab Nov. 19, according to the New York Daily News.
“I raised my hand and they were aiming at my head with the machete, and instead they took my (right thumb),” he told the Daily News.

Sanchez and Guzman were arrested and charged with felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. They were released from jail on $2,000 bail, according to the Daily News.
Deleon and others were outside the Bronx district attorney’s office Sunday to protest their release from jail.
"That's one of the most frustrating things," his sister, Fary Deleon, told WNBC. "We just want justice. Those kids are still out there and they may be able to hurt somebody else."
