Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit said it was contacted by a family member of a Dearborn resident over concerns that the numerous dogs were not receiving the care they needed.

The dogs range in age from 3 months to 3 years old, according to the Detroit Free Press.

After city officials visited the resident, they contacted the rescue group after the homeowner agreed to give up the dogs.

"We are working to get all the dogs what they need to be placed up for adoption, which hopefully will be within the next few days," FAMD said in a post on its website.

People interested in adopting one of the animals can go to the group's website here and fill out an adoption questionnaire. The requests will be considered in the order they are submitted.

The agency is also accepting donations to help with the costs of spaying, neutering and microchipping the dogs.
