Toby Keith rocks Lakewood

ATLANTA,None — Country music superstar Toby Keith brought his "Locked and Loaded Tour" to Aaron's Amphitheater at Lakewood Saturday night.

Keith opened the show with "American Ride" before pounding out nearly two hours of hit songs including "God Love Her," "How Do You Like Me Now?," "I Love This Bar" and "As Good As I Once Was."

Keith allowed his fan club users to vote prior to the tour on one song that he would play at every show.  "Does That Blue Moon Ever Shine On You" won the vote, so he played it as well. Keith noted that record executives originally told him the song wasn't good enough to make it onto his album and he only started playing it because he was on tour with Reba McEntire and since all she sang was ballads, he felt like he should end his opening act with a ballad. The song made it onto a later album and rose to No. 2 on the music charts.

To no one's surprise, Keith played "Should've Been A Cowboy" about midway through the show. One interesting twist on the most played country music song of the 90s, Keith allowed a couple of audience members to sing it, too. Part of the way through the song, Keith tossed the microphone into the crowd. One round, a male audience member dressed like a cowboy gave it his best shot. The crowd responded with applause. Up next, a lady who claimed she had been to a half-dozen Keith shows gave it a shot. Boos filled the amphitheater before she was finished.

The show included a duet with Willie Nelson, too. Nelson wasn't actually at the show, but rather appeared on the massive HD monitor above the band and sang his part on "Beer For My Horses."

Keith's encore included "American Soldier" and "Courtesy Of The Red, White and Blue."
