DECATUR, Ga. — Testimony continued Wednesday in DeKalb County where musician Kid Rock faces a civil lawsuit stemming from a 2007 fight at a Waffle House restaurant.
Robert James Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock, and five members of his entourage on Wednesday appeared in DeKalb County court.
Harlen Akins claims the musician cursed at him, and then members of his entourage beat Akins up and smashed his cell phone.
Jurors heard testimony from a firefighter who drove Akins to a hospital and a doctor who treated Akins three days later.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Erica Byfield was in the courtroom Wednesday when a 911 call from the night of the fight was played. The caller could be heard crying and telling the 911 operator that Kid Rock started the fight.
Kid Rock pleaded guilty in 2008 to a misdemeanor charge of simple battery.
The musician stopped at the restaurant following a performance in Atlanta. The fight reportedly broke out after Akins recognized a woman in Kid Rock's party and spoke to her.
