Teen Charged In Golf Cart Chase Ending On I-75

MARIETTA, Ga. — A 16-year-old may face charges after leading Marietta police on a slow-speed, one-mile chase on Interstate 75 driving a golf cart.

On Thursday, police responded to reports that the golf cart was taken from Madison at the Knolls apartment complex on Roswell Road at about 11 a.m.

A Marietta police officer said he spotted the golf cart abandoned along the side and moments later he observed the teem jump into the cart and drive off southbound.

Authorities said the driver steered as far as two lanes into the six-lane highway, driving roughly 10 miles per hour.

Murphy said authorities finally stopped the teen by pulling in front of him with a patrol car.

Authorities said the youth could face charges of felony theft, obstruction and driving a slow-speed vehicle on an interstate with a minimum speed of 35 mph.

Police said the golf cart belonged to the Madison at the Knolls apartment complex on Roswell Road.
