Taxi Driver Carjacked, Robbed In DeKalb Co.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga.,None — Taxi drivers in the Stone Mountain area are on high alert after someone robbed a driver and then shocked him with a stun gun, twice.

It happened at about noon Tuesday when police said a Rapid Taxi driver picked up a fare at the Indian Creek MARTA station.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Ryan Young traced the taxi driver's steps and learned that the perpetrator, who is still at large, tried to place the taxi driver in the trunk of the victim's 1991 gray Crown Victoria.

Investigators told Young that the driver refused, at which point the perpetrator zapped him twice with a stun gun, took his money and fled in the victim's car. The taxi cab was later found parked outside an abandoned house near Redan Road in DeKalb County.

The vehicle was taken to crime scene investigators lab to be fingerprinted.
