Tallapoosa truck stop sells winning ticket worth $550K

ATLANTA — A truck stop in Tallapoosa has sold a winning Georgia Lottery ticket worth more than a half-million dollars. Newborn Truck Stop, located at 840 Ga. Highway 100 S., sold a winning top prize worth $550,000 from the instant game $550,000 Grand Money.

Talladega, Ala., resident Jerrica Perkins won the prize and claimed it Monday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
