KENNESAW, Ga. — A Kennesaw State University nursing student died Sunday morning after passing out at a party the night before.
Authorities said they're awaiting a toxicology report on exactly what killed 21-year-old Dorian Richard Varcianna.
Authorities said he was was at an off-campus party Saturday night in Kennesaw where he blacked out and never woke up.
Varcianna's younger brother Fabian said he left the party around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Fabian Varcianna said he brought Dorian Varcianna back home but he couldn't get him inside so he let him sleep on a couch inside an enclosed garage. But, when the younger brother checked again around 9 a.m., he told police Dorian's "skin was cold and he was not breathing."
Police said the theory is that Varcianna may have died from drinking too much alcohol. But Varcianna's family said he didn't drink so they want to see the toxicology report.
"Well, I'm not blaming (anyone) at this point because I don't know what happened. Until we get the report, then I can't say (anything)," said Dorian's mother Beverley Varcianna.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Richard Elliot spoke with neighbors who had nothing but good things to say about Varcianna.
His funeral will be held in his native New York next week.
KSU spokesman Michael Sanseviro said the party was not a campus-sanctioned event and was not related to the rush initiation.
Police have not said when the toxicology report will be available.
