ATLANTA — A retired U.S. Postal Service worker has put his stamp on a top prize from the Georgia Lottery. Eddie Beard of Buford won $1 million playing the Georgia Lottery's 20th Anniversary Extravaganza.
Beard purchased his winning ticket from Wee Willy’s #0007, 1875 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Buford, and scratched it inside of the store.
“I was shocked,” said Beard, 71. “I wanted to go to sleep, but I was excited, of course.”
The lucky winner retired two years ago from working as a postman.
He has no plans yet for his windfall.
The Georgia Lottery's 20th Anniversary Extravaganza is an instant game loaded with cash prizes, including top prizes of $1 million and $5 million.
Players can enter non-winning tickets into the 20th Anniversary Extravaganza Extra Chance Promotion for a second chance to win $5 million.
