ATLANTA — Authorities are charging a second man in the robbery of an armored car at an Atlanta hospital.
Federal prosecutors filed court papers Monday that said Troy Stephens was involved in stealing $643,000 this month from a Loomis armored car during a scheduled stop at DeKalb Medical Center.
Authorities have also arrested Okevlibus Thornton, 28, a Loomis employee, on charges of robbery and possession of a firearm during a crime.
Police said Thornton fled the area in a U-Haul moving truck and was apprehended by police a short distance away.
Police said he was caught after he tried to flee on foot, while two others got away.
In court papers, authorities said Thornton identified Stephens as one of his accomplices.
The documents do not say whether Stephens was in federal custody and he could not be reached for comment.
