Scattered Cancellations At Airport After St. Louis Tornado

ATLANTA — There were scattered cancellations at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Saturday after a Tornado ripped through the main terminal of Lambert Airport in St. Louis Friday night.

Lambert Airport is expected to reopen Sunday, but will only be able to operate at 70 percent capacity, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay said.

An Ameren Missouri spokesman said power should be restored later Saturday.

The airport director said one American Airlines 757 jet sustained significant damage, and four other American planes had minor damage. Five or six flights had to be diverted away from St. Louis when the storm hit.

Officials weren't sure how many travelers were stranded.

St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley said hundreds of homes in nine communities were damaged. Ameren said power could be out for several days.
