MARIETTA, Ga. — Dozens of people were homeless Saturday morning after Marietta city leaders condemned a motel they called home.
Channel 2's Amanda Cook was at the Hospitality Inn on Delk Road, where residents were packing their bags for the 11 a.m. deadline.
After a man died at the motel on Tuesday, city leaders said they discovered deplorable and unsafe conditions at the inn. They said they found open electrical boxes, standing water, rotted ceilings and backed up sewage in hotel rooms.

But residents said it's all they've got.
"I can't go looking for a place tonight," resident Marilyn Brown told Cook.
She said she believes the decision was made out of a personal vendetta against the motel owner. The owner told Cook he was too shocked and shaken up to appear on camera. His brother said he thinks the city is after the motel, because it sits on valuable property.
"I don't think it's fair. We're all lower income, and I don't like that. I would like to be living large, but I'm not," Brown said. "The reality is that it's day-to-day sometimes and sometimes hour-to-hour."
