ATLANTA,None — A retired Atlanta Public School principal implicated in a massive cheating scandal is back at work -- this time, for a Fulton County charter school.
Principal Implicated In CRCT Cheating Works At New Charter School
Janice Kelsey worked as a principal at Thomasville Heights Elementary when, investigators said, she was aware of standardized test cheating going on inside the school. According to the 800-page report on the APS cheating scandal, she is responsible for falsifying, misrepresenting, or erroneously reporting the results of the 2009 CRCT to the Georgia Department of Education. She was one of 178 teachers and principals implicated in the report.
Kelsey has since been hired as a student support manager at College Parks Main Street Charter School, a school run by another former Thomasville Heights teacher. It is unclear whether the school was aware of Kelseys background prior to her hiring.
The interim superintendent is expected to respond to the findings at noon Thursday.
Kelsey declined to do an interview, but her husband told Channel 2s Richard Elliot, "She doesn't want to talk. She doesn't know what's going on. But she'll contact you."
