Police seek gunman who killed 15-year-old girl in Union City

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Union City police are investigating the shooting death of a local high school student.

Investigators said Amira Cameron, 15, was killed Sunday night in the Oakley Shoals Apartments on Oakley Road.

Witnesses told her father that Cameron was hanging out in the parking lot with her friends when shots were fired.

"You took my heart. I can't replace her. She's irreplaceable," father Horace Cameron told Channel 2's Tom Jones.
He said he rushed to the scene after getting a phone call.

"All I know is that my son called me and said, 'Daddy, Amira just got shot in the head,'" Cameron said before breaking down in tears. "He says he saw them and he started calling for his sister to come on and she had on headphones and she didn't hear him."

Cameron said his son saw a car drive by, then saw someone roll down the window and make a U-turn. The shooter opened fire.

"He don't know who they were firing at, but I know it wasn't my daughter," Cameron told Jones.

Family and friends gathered in the rain as police worked to gather evidence.

"We do have promising leads that our detectives are following up on," Union City Police Officer Chris Murphy said.

Amira Cameron was a student at Langston Hughes High School, according to her father.

So far, police have not released a motive in the shooting.

"Y'all know anything out there about this man, somebody tell, somebody tell somebody," Horace Cameron said.
