Police investigating deadly shooting after Halloween party

ATLANTA,None — Police are hoping people who attended some Halloween parties can help them find a killer.

Police blocked off Sampson Street near north Highland Avenue early Sunday morning after finding a man fatally shot.

The shooting happened at a multi-unit apartment complex at about 3:30 a.m.

Police have not released the victim's name and have few details on what happened. Investigators said the male victim is possibly in his 30s, and likely lives in this area.

Lt. Paul Guerrucci with the Atlanta Police Department said the man was "shot at least once to the chest, and dead on scene."

"It more looks like just a person who lives in the neighborhood," Guerrucci said. "There was not much disarray with the clothing that he was wearing. But again, we haven't actually established a motive or any eyewitnesses as of yet."

"It was like, pow! Right when I walked outside I heard a gunshot," neighbor Ian Pollack said.

Pollack said a friend told him someone was being targeted.

"There was some screaming and yelling going on, and actually, I did hear earlier tonight that someone heard that a shooting was going to happen," Pollack said.

Pollack said he heard that at a nearby Halloween party.

Channel 2's Sophia Choi saw lots of people in costumes walking around the neighborhood and police told her there were several parties going on but the victim probably wasn't at any of them.

Police plan to question the man Choi spoke with.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
