Person Of Interest Sought In Big Chicken Robbery

MARIETTA, Ga. — A fast-food restaurant manager headed to the bank to make a deposit Jan. 4 was robbed at gunpoint, Marietta police said. On Tuesday, police released the sketch of a person of interest being sought in the crime.

The crime happened at about 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant located at Marietta Parkway and U.S. 41, commonly referred to as the "Big Chicken" for its landmark 56-foot chicken structure.

Investigators said a well-dressed man wearing a shirt and tie approached the manager as she was getting into her red Ford Explorer to go make a deposit.

The perpetrator demanded the money and fled the scene in the victim's vehicle, police said. She was unharmed, and police later recovered the SUV in the Lassiter Mobile Home Park directly behind the Big Chicken.

Police said the gunman remains at large.
