DORAVILLE, Ga.,None — Channel 2 Action News learned that a major new development in the works for the closed General Motors plant in Doraville is off.
A development company was going to buy the 165 acres of prime real estate and turn it into a mixed-use development. But Doraville officials told Channel 2 Action News that the developer called Monday to say GM canceled the agreement.
"That has tied up the GM property, theoretically for months of un-marketability, and now we start over," said Doraville resident Stuart Anderson.
The plant closed Sept. 26, 2008. Doraville officials said they lose about $500,000 in tax revenue each year it sits idle.
