COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A SWAT standoff in Cobb County ended Sunday afternoon when police found two people dead inside a townhome.
They were an adult man and woman, according to police. It appears the two knew each other. Police said it was not clear who lives at the home and who does not.
Police also carried a baby out of the home, who police said had no visible injuries.
Officers had been outside the townhome in the Oakdale Bluff community in Smyrna since midnight. Police say they responded to the area after they were told a man had a gun inside the home. There were no reports of shots fired at the time.
Police initially believed an armed man was holding a hostage inside the townhome, but they were never able to make contact with anyone inside. Sunday morning they sent a robot into the home to sweep both floors.
Police say that’s when they found the baby inside the home, and the two adults deceased.
The standoff ended around 2 p.m. Sunday.
Twelve people total were evacuated from surrounding houses.
