Mysterious Note Left In Church Vandalism

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A DeKalb County pastor discovered vandals trashed the inside of his church, and a man appointed to stand guard was missing on Friday.

Pastor Easton Brooks told Channel 2 Action News that someone broke into Increasing Faith Ministries on Rainbow Circle and ransacked every room.

"Fax machines, computers, everything is totally gone. It's a shame to see how people have no respect at all for the house of the Lord," Brooks said.

Brooks said he isn't sure if anything had been stolen, but he said vandals destroyed the pulpit, smashed mirrors, knocked holes in the wall and destroyed the choir's musical instruments.

"These are very expensive keyboards and they are totally ruined. I'm totally lost for words. I don't know what to say," Brooks said.

A church member was designated to watch the church overnight because of previous vandalism, Brooks said, but Randolph Morgan was gone when the pastor arrived.

Morgan's car was still parked outside the building on Friday morning. His keys were inside the church and a mysterious note was left behind.

Channel 2's Manuel Bojorquez obtained the note written on an offering envelope. The word "Love" was circled twice and "all of you so much. I thought you cared for me," was scrawled at the bottom. Brooks said no one has been able to contact Morgan and he is not answering his phone.

Brooks said he did not know if Morgan was responsible for the damage or if he was in danger.

Morgan's sister, Inell Gosire, told Bojorquez that her brother suffers from schizophrenia and that he may have had an episode.

Brooks is working with DeKalb County police to find the person or people responsible for the damage. He said he will continue to pray for the people who vandalized the church.
